Many cell phone companies sport family plans. This means that a master account can add several different phone lines. These lines are most often given to the children of the family. Many parents don’t think this is a very good idea. Their objection is that the cell phone makes it too hard to keep tabs on their kids. They say that their kids will get into trouble faster. They somehow think that their kid’s cellular phone will somehow get them into trouble.
However, many of the parents who enlist in these family plans believe the exact opposite. These parents feel that a cellular phone will actually help them keep tabs on their kids. With a cellular phone, their child is always reachable no matter where they are. This makes the cellular phone an invaluable tool for knowing what your kids are up to.
Many parents give the cellular phone to their kids but set some ground rules. For example, they must not go over their minute plan. If this happens, many parents will take the phone away as punishment. The phone, as they see it, is a privilege and should be considered as such. However, as long as the child stays within these boundaries and rules, they are often able to use the phone whenever they want. The only stipulation is that they must answer the parent when they call.
Some parents are even giving a cellular phone to very young children. The types of cellular phone they generally give to younger children are the type that only dial a few numbers. These types of cellular phone are usually only able to dial the parent’s home, 911, as well as a grandparent’s home or some other location they can call for help if they need it. This is a great tool to use for protecting your child against a predator or anyone else who may try and kidnap your child. With a cellular phone, your child can call for help no matter where they are. The idea is that, hopefully, the cellular phone won’t be needed but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Cellular phones are a great way to keep tabs on your child. It can actually help keep them out of trouble and it can even be used as a tool in case there’s no one around and they need help. So, give a cellular phone to your kids and feel better in knowing that they’re always just a call away.
