Of course, you need to consider how many minutes you need in your cellular phone plan. If you already have a contract, look to see how many minutes you usually use. That will give you a pretty good idea of how many minutes to include in your new cellular phone plan.
Compare the cost per minute of overages, too. You could have a month where you have unusually high cellular phone use, and it’s important to get a good rate for those unusual times.
Extra Features For Your Cellular Phone Plan
Most cellular phone plans come with free long distance calling and features such as voice messaging, call waiting and caller ID. Make sure the cellular phone plan you choose is competitive in the extras it includes at no cost.
Compare what you pay for other extras, such as international calling, photos, text messages and web browsing. You may not use those options now, but you do need to know what it will cost you to add them later if you want to.

Find out how you can make changes to your cellular phone plan, and what it costs you to make those changes. Is there a change fee? Do you have to take out a new contract? If you change phones, will it cost you to transfer your service to the new phone? If your cellular phone plan includes calling circles or family plans, make sure you know exactly who is included in your plan. Your college kid may not be included in your family plan while she’s in England. If there is a calling circle, is it limited to a certain region?
